Information Collection and Use.
Registration. In order to register for Scouting events, a user must first complete the appropriate registration form. During registration a user gives contact information (such as name, address, telephone number and email address). We use this information to contact the user about events on our site for which he/she has expressed interest. The information may be forwarded to the appropriate District Executive, to other local Boy Scouts of America councils and/or to the Boy Scouts of America National Council ("National"). The information may also be used for verification purposes, registration, historical data purposes, and trend-analysis.
Credit Card/Payment Information. We may also request credit card or other payment information. This information may be sent or connected to third-party vendors for processing credit card transactions and other monetary transactions.
Cookies. When you visit mac-bsa.org, we send one or more cookies, a small file containing a string of characters, to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. We may set a cookie on your browser when you visit mac-bsa.org.
Donations. We request information from the user on our online donation forms. A user must provide contact information (such as name, address, email address, and billing address) and financial information (such as credit card number, credit card type, and expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to process donations. If we have trouble processing this information, the information is used to contact the user.
Security/Legal Disclaimer. While we take reasonable precautions to protect the privacy of this information, its security is not guaranteed. Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law.
We believe that protecting the privacy of children is important. Children, 12 and under, should not enter data via this site’s interactive applications.
This site does not use online chat rooms, as the guidelines provided by National recommend.
A child's full name with a photo of the child should not appear in this site. If you find that a child’s full name with a photo of the child is accidentally placed on a page in this site, please report in writing the error to the Council's Marketing Director.
We would like to encourage you to speak with your child about using the Internet. Keeping their personal information private regardless of what site they are visiting is important and should be discussed with them directly.
