Recognitions
Below are a list of Commissioner worksheets and self-assessment forms. Please contact the Durham Scout Center at 402.431.9BSA (402.431.9272) if you have any questions.

The purpose is to recognize the important role of Commissioners’ and the critical value they add to the Scouting organization and its programs.
New Commissioner Once registered, new Commissioners will receive a Mid-America Council nametag.
Commissioner Neckerchief After completing basic training and assigned to a unit(s), Commissioners will be presented with a Mid-America Council Commissioner neckerchief.

Commissioner Belt Buckle Commissioners that have completed Commissioners Basic Training and have provided 3 years of commissioner service will be presented with a Mid-America Council belt Buckle. Apply for the Belt Buckle Award
Mid-America Council Bolo Tie
  • Performance recognition
  • Commissioners that have a minimum of 60% of their assigned units earn quality unit status
  • Apply for the bolo tie
Distinguished Commissioner Award
  • Complete Commissioner Basic Training
  • 5 years of commissioner service
  • 60% of assigned units achieve a minimum of Silver Level with JTE (Journey to Excellence)

Commissioner Arrowhead Award
  • Visit each assigned unit 8 or more times throughout the year
  • Document your unit visits in the Unit Visit Tracking System (UVTS) for each assigned unit. Click here for UVTS assistance.
  • Conduct membership and leadership inventories in each assigned unit
  • Attend 6 District Commissioner staff meetings and provide the training topic for 1 meeting
  • Participate in a charter review meeting that results in on-time unit re-registration
  • Particpate in a charter presentation
  • Attend a council Commissioner College
  • Help a unit resolve a specific problem or improve some aspect of their unit operation
  • Also available for DC, ADC, RTC

Commissioner's Key
  • Complete Commissioner Basic Training
  • Complete 3 years as a registered commissioner within a 5 year period
  • Earn the Arrowhead Award
  • Unit Commissioner Progress Record for the Commissioner Key
  • District and Assistant District Commissioner Progress Record for the Commissioner Key
  • Roundtable/Huddle Commissioner Progress Record for the Commissioner Key
  • Also available for DC, ADC, RTC

Commissioner Award of Excellence in Unit Service
  • Complete Commissioner Basic Training
  • Target improvement in at least one of the seld-assessment goals
  • Written action plan for the above self-assessment
  • Conduct Unit Self-Assessment twice a year for 2 consecutive years
  • On-time recharting for 2 consecutive years
  • Youth retention percentages must show improvement for 2 consecutive years
  • Be a participant or staff member in one continuing education event for commissioner service (Commissioner College, Philmont, Summit Training, etc)
  • Make at least 6 unit visits to each assigned unit and record all visits in the UVTS for 2 years
