Scouts spend weekend on ‘Journey to Eagle’
  September 23, 2013 8:00 am • Tribune staff

Sometimes teamwork is required to get a job accomplished.

That’s how Trent Mulford found himself holding down a log while fellow Boy Scouts Austyn Gard-Arnold and David Voss used a two-man buck saw on Saturday at Czechland Lake near Prague.

The three joined dozens of other scouts at the 2013 Goldenrod District Fall Camporee. This year’s theme was “Journey to Eagle.”

Several of the scouts spent some time looking for crawfish. Edmund England was among those who were able to scoop up some crawfish, which later were boiled and eaten.

Scout officials said the event emphasized skills from all levels, from those with the rank of Tenderfoot on up. In addition to team-building exercises, there was a Dutch oven cook-off.
