The Boy Scouts of America Venture Crew, Boyer Valley Pheasants Forever Chapter along with the Missouri Valley Knights of Columbus as a charter partner are joining forces with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to provide an all-inclusive sport to Harrison County youth, aged 13-20: The Scho-lastic Clay Target Pro-gram (SCTP).

All Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venturing adult leaders can get trained at the annual Train-A-Ganza at Camp Cedars on April 27-29, 2012. 
All are welcome to attend the Bishop's Scout Mass at the Cathedral of the Epiphany on March 24, 2012 as we recognize Catholic scouts who have earned religious awards since last year.
Historic Trails AwardAll Boy Scouts, Varsity, Venturers, leaders, parents and families are invitedon a 50-mile hike over 5 days and 4 nights along the Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail starting at Emmet, NE and ending at Long Pine, NE. on May 21-25, 2012.
All Board Members, Corporate Supporters and all supporters of Scouting are invited to the Scott Conference Center in Omaha for the Citizen of the Year Luncheon on April 18, 2012.
ServeNebraska is accepting nominations to honor individuals and organizations throughout Nebraska with the annual First Lady's Outstanding Community Service Awards. The nomination deadline for these awards is March 1, 2012. Honorees will be recognized at the First Lady's Awards Luncheon on April 18, 2012 in North Platte. There are many Mid-America Council Scouters who are deserving of these awards.

The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day - February 5th in 2012) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. However, each chartered organization can use either of two other options to celebrate this special day.

Mid-America Council is moving the Sioux City Scout Center
The Mid-America Council is going to close the Sioux City Scout Center January 28 and reopen at the new location on February 6. Anyone interested in helping should contact Susan Brown at 712.255.8846 or susan.brown@scouting.org.

Omaha LancersAll Scouts, leaders, parents and families join us at the Omaha Civic Auditorium as the Omaha Lancers take on the Sioux Fall Stampede on March 3, 2012.
2012 Scout Anniversary week is February 5-11 and offers our units a prime opportunity to take Scouting out to the people and really focus the spotlight of public awareness on the great things we're doing in their communities.
Scouts across the Mid-America Council collectively sold more than $3.4 million dollars in popcorn! That equates to $1,258,000 directly back to the packs and troops that sold popcorn this fall! Among the more than 6,000 Scouts that sold popcorn in October, we would like to recognize the outstanding Scouts that went above and beyond the average Scout sale.

Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader: All leaders, parents and volunteers are invited to supplemental leader training at its best at the Heartland University of Scouting, November 3, 2012.
All Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are encouraged to participate in God & Country Workshops from January 11 - February 8 or February 15, 2012 (depending on program). Completion of this program meets all requirements for youth to earn the religious emblem for Cub & Boy Scouts.

Mandatory Report of Child Abuse
All persons involved in Scouting shall report to local authorities any good faith suspicion or belief that any child is or has been physically or sexually abused, physically or emotionally neglected, exposed to any form of violence or threat, exposed to any form of sexual exploitation including the possession, manufacture, or distribution of child pornography, online solicitation, enticement, or showing of obscene material. No person may abdicate this reporting responsibility to any other person.

Notify your Scout executive of this report, or of any violation of BSA's Youth Protection policies, so that he or she may take appropriate action for the safety of our Scouts, make appropriate notifications, and follow-up with investigating agencies.
