Sell Camp Cards ... and go to camp for FREE!
What is Camp Cards?
Camp cards is a program meant to help get more kids to go to camp – for FREE! The purpose is to alleviate financial stress from families and units so that more kids can go to camp and receive the unparalleled experiences that Scout camp is known for. Revenue from the camp card sales is directed back into the Mid-America Council camping programs. Sale has been extended through April 30, 2013.
Location
In our pilot year, the Mid-America Council only offered camp cards in one area of the council. This year, the program has expanded to cover our entire service area. Even better, the camp card offers are tailored to one of four regions: Southwest Iowa, Northwest Iowa, Nebraska, and Omaha-metro.
Value
You asked for it and we're giving it to you. You want the camp card to have value, and we have brought in top notch vendors this year. For example, anywhere in the council service area, you get $2.00 off a large pizza at Casey's. Also, you can get a free medium one topping pizza with purchase of any specialty large pizza at regular price from Godfather's. Let's Do the Math
When you sell camp cards, you earn 50% commission. That equals $2.50 per card sold.
If a Cub Scout was selling camp cards simply to pay his own way to camp, it would take a 40 cards to earn enough commission to go to Cub Scout Day Camp and 44 cards to be enough to pay for Cub Scout Resident Camp. BUT, if that Cub Scout sells 80 cards, he will earn $200 in commission, PLUS go to camp for FREE! The Mid-America Council will pay for his camp*. Additionally, the Scout/unit keeps the commission.
One more time, Boy Scout style. If a Boy Scout wanted to earn enough commission to pay for summer camp, he would need to sell 96 camp cards. But if he sold 160 camp cards, he will earn $400 PLUS go to summer camp for FREE! The Mid-America Council will pay for his camp**. Additionally, the Scout/unit keeps the commission.
A little addition for you:
If you have 10 Boy Scouts in your troop, and each one sells enough camp cards to have the Mid-America Council pay their summer camp fees, then your unit will save $2,400 in summer camp fees and earn $4,000 in commission. In essence, that's $6,400 a troop can spend on something else. Maybe a new trailer?
